About Abbie
I’m a photographer and artist born, raised and based in Madison, WI.
When a dslr camera first found its way to me at the end of 2017 I was working on pulling myself out of a deep depression. I had no idea how to use it, but began taking my new little friend for walks in the woods where the focus of figuring out what I was doing helped to quiet the nasty chatter in my mind, and then, ever so slightly, started to shift that dialogue entirely.
That's when I found my way to an online artist community where I started participating in creative challenges. I took part in a one year photo-a-day challenge which provided an excellent opportunity to immerse myself in daily learning, develop my eye, and connect with other artists. It was my time in that community that inspired my first steps down the self portraiture path and I'll always be grateful for that.
Photography started as a therapeutic hobby that helped break me out of an icy depression, but it quickly melted me down and ignited into passion. Whether I'm wandering a peaceful path in the woods or a bustling community event, reaching deep to express myself through self portraiture or preserving memories by snapping candids at family gatherings, I feel charged.
Photography is my purpose and I wish to honor it with love.
